Fir Tree Farm Equestrian, South Yorkshire

Fir Tree Farm describes itself as an ‘old-fashioned’ riding stables, which means that everyone gets involved in grooming and tacking up the horses as well as riding them – vital for ensuring a full understanding of how horses behave and react.

Owner Frances Bennett Randall and her team create a lovely friendly atmosphere and offer a wide range of equestrian experiences, from beginner lessons for children or adults to more advanced lessons in flatwork and jumping.

They also run short hacks in the surrounding countryside, and once you’re confident at walk, trot and canter you can join one of their wonderful, sociable riding holidays in other parts of Yorkshire, for instance the North York Moors National Park. Horses and riders find the going very different there, riding through hills, grassy tracks and woodlands. It’s unusual nowadays to find riding centres with the knowledge and confidence to run this kind of holiday - so make the most of it!
