Gill Edge Cottages, Wensleydale

Riding in the Yorkshire Dales

Gill Edge lies in the heart of beautiful Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are three charming self-catering cottages here, each sleeping up to 4 people - so you can book with just one or two friends or a whole group.

With a trekking centre located in the same grounds, this is definitely a horsey place - and it has miles of bridleways and tracks starting straight from the door. Owner Joyce Thorpe and her team can advise where to ride, whether it's to the nearby lake of Semerwater or further afield.

Grazing and stabling are on offer, although - as always - you should discuss your requirements and what's available when you make an enquiry. There are even indoor and outdoor arenas which you can make use of (depending on availability - these are also used by the riding school).

Just a mile away is the pretty village of Bainbridge, with its pub and tea-rooms, and the market town of Hawes with its famous Wensleydale Creamery is a short drive.
