Goxhill Meadows, East Riding of Yorkshire

Riding in the Yorkshire Dales
You can enjoy a perfect back-to-nature riding holiday at Goxhill Meadows Ecofriendly Glamping, amidst the tranquil farming lands of Holderness, in East Yorkshire.

Guests stay in Landpods, offering warmth and comfort exceeding any standard tent or other camping pod - and they're designed to blend in with nature while minimising impact on the land. They include solar-powered lighting and all bedding, with a shower-pod and eco-friendly toilet nearby as well as picnic tables, a firepit and stove in the kitchen area - which, appropriately, is a converted horse-trailer!

There are just three Landpods positioned in a large meadow, each with its own open space and privacy and with uninterrupted views over the surrounding arable land and woodland – and over your horses, grazing in adjacent fields. Sunsets can be superb, and on clear nights star-gazing is wonderful, with a total absence of light pollution.

There’s a fantastic variety of hacking. You can access the Transpennine Trail, farm tracks, bridleways and quiet lanes straight from the gate – and stubble fields after harvest. You'll see few other people when you ride out and there’s lots of opportunity to spot wildlife, especially early in the morning. There are many circular rides, from a few miles to over 10 miles. You can even ride to the beach and gallop for miles – it’s spectacular! There's also a secure tackroom and a washdown area.

Owner Jayne Haigh says “As horse owners ourselves, we’ve been lucky to have taken our horses on several holidays, so we understand what's needed. Riding is a fabulous way of exploring new places and is as refreshing for horses as it is for riders! A friendly welcome and advice on our favourite hacks, local equestrian facilities and events is all part of the service.”

You’ll probably also enjoy being amongst the family’s miniature ponies, pygmy goats, Hebridean sheep and chickens; fresh eggs are always an option for breakfast!

Goxhill Meadows offers grazing for your horse(s), safe parking, secure tackroom, local area maps, while hay can be provided for a small additional charge.
