Prospect Farm Cottages, Wilton, Pickering
A previous visitor describes Prospect Farm as “a great set-up with very nice cottages, and good stabling, fields and parking”.
Owner Lynne White looks after four self-catering cottages here, three with one bedroom and one with two bedrooms. The cottages are located along a private drive in the small village of Wilton, on the main road between Pickering and Scarborough. This property is particularly easy to reach, with no narrow winding lanes to follow!
For your horses there are looseboxes in a stone outbuilding and several acres of grassy paddock to graze.
There is excellent off-road riding from here, as you can ride straight out from the back of the farm along a bridleway to the vast area of Dalby Forest – owned by Forestry England - without meeting any main roads. Within Dalby Forest is a huge network of tracks available for riders as well as walkers and cyclists. The varied terrain makes for riding routes full of interest, and a short drive further afield are rides in other parts of the North York Moors or Coast - for instance a 45-minute drive takes you to Hunmanby Gap, where you can park and ride straight down to the beach.
A mile away is the lively and well-kept village of Thornton-le-Dale, with several shops, tea-rooms and pubs.
