South Riding Holiday Barn
This peaceful corner of Yorkshire is the place to live the dream of cantering along the beach with the sea-breeze streaming past your ears!
Back in the 1960s, Toni Biglin started a riding school in Yorkshire’s ‘Far East’ of Holderness, where timeless villages encircle pretty churches and fertile crop-lands stretch to the sea.
While riding lessons no longer take place here on school ponies, the centre has evolved into a wonderful place to bring your own horse on holiday run by Toni and her daughter Steph, with beach rides on the doorstep and easy access to long bridleways and quiet lanes. There's stabling on site, indoor and outdoor arenas, a cross-country course - and you can book a lesson with a resident instructor. There may be events such as Trec during your stay - it's worth asking!
You stay in a delightful 3-bedroomed self-catering cottage (a converted barn) sleeping up to 8, while your horses stay in pleasant stables. There's an option for daytime turnout.
Day visitors can take advantage of a ‘Park and Ride’ service and leave your horse-box safely parked while you explore the beaches and bridleways (small charge for parking).
"We spent 4 days here and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The Holiday Cottage (Barn) is well appointed, spacious and clean and the horses were very relaxed in their stables. Toni is very friendly and helpful. Can definitely recommend it!" (June 2018)
Toni says "80% of our visitors come again - often twice in the same year!"
