Blamire House B&B, Pocklington

Blamire House offers a tranquil stay in the heart of the gentle arable countryside of East Yorkshire, with quiet lanes and bridleways (no gates!) straight from the paddock.

The house dates from the 18th century and is surrounded by lovely gardens and well-fenced paddocks - you can watch your horse happily grazing from the room where you stay. To the north - just a short drive away - are the glorious Yorkshire Wolds, with more wonderful riding.

Blamire House is owned by Janet Cochrane, who runs Ride Yorkshire, and she'll provide you with maps and route directions to help you discover the local rides, and advise on exploring further afield.

Blamire is just 3 miles from Rosethorpe Park, where you can hire the Cross-country course for a reasonable fee - there are jumps to suit all abilities, and there's a sand arena a short walk away that can be hired.

Stays here are flexible as well as relaxing - there's a choice of twin or double rooms (both en-suite), or you could even camp or sleep in your horsebox. For lunch and evening meals, there are country pubs a short drive away and restaurants in the pleasant market towns of Pocklington and Market Weighton - or you could enjoy a takeaway in the big farmhouse kitchen!
